About this campaign
The “gyro project” was started on March the 21st by the Malteser Jugend, the youth association of an aid organization in Germany. Patron of this action is Constantin von Brandenstein-Zeppelin, who is president of the German “Malteser Hilfsdienst” association. Our aim is to send 1000 gyros on a journey all around the world and to follow their routes by uploaded photos, videos and commentaries.The action is based on trust that everyone will take care for keeping the gyros on their journey. This can be realized by passing on your gyro to a person you consider trustworthy. We are sure, that not only Malteser members have this quality.
The possibilities of travelling are only limited by your fantasy. You could send your gyro via airmail packet to a relative on the other side of the ocean, hand it to your globetrotting couchsurfer or bring it as a pilgrim to Santiago de Compostela. We are looking forwards to see, how long ranged the contacts of the Malteser Jugend are. Once registered at his starting point, a gyro can be accompanied by everyone having a look to this page. Many photographs, videos should help to illustrate the 1000 exiting journeys all over the world.
On September the 25th the winners will be disclosed at the national first-aid competition. Not only the gyro that travelled the longest distance, but also the one with the most different “owners” will be awarded. Another price will go to the best picture, determined by an online voting that will start on September the 13th. The owner/group that registered first with their gyro will be honored wit great prices. So don’t hesitate and support the gyro on its way.
